Meditation is the art of true relationship. Whenever there is sorrow or joy, anger or love, fear of courage, there are also many possible ways to relate to these emotions. Do we get caught in them? Is the mind spacious and accepting, or do we get lost in judgement?

We might think of the mind as being like clear open space…

In our meditation and in our lives, it is not so important what particular experience arises. What’s important is how we relate to it. By learning to relate well with whatever arises, we open to the full range of human experience. This deepening of understanding and wisdom fosters the growth of compassion within us.

I can see it in your eyes

what I know in my heart is true

that our love it has faded

like the summer run through

and we’ll walk down the shoreline

one last time together

feel the wind blow our wanderin’ hearts

like a feather

but who knows what’s waiting

in the wings of time

dry your eyes
